Step-by-step guide

Can you recover a recently deleted Google Account?

Short answer

Google says a recently deleted account may still be recoverable. An account deleted a while ago may not be; the outcome depends on Google's recovery check.

We never ask for your account address, password or verification code. AccountsAid cannot recover an account for you.

Try Google's deleted-account route

Act through Google's recovery flow for the account you own.

  1. Enter the deleted account

Use the same identifier you used before deletion.

  2. Answer ownership questions

    Follow the prompts Google presents.

  3. Set a new password if restored

Choose one not previously used with that account.

What the result means

Criterion Recovery succeeds Recovery is unavailable
You regain the account and its data subject to Google's actual result. Google notes older deletions may not be reversible; a replacement account is different from restoring the old one.

Two outcomes of the deleted-account route

Google does not publish a universal time window that guarantees restoration. Try its route for the deleted account you own, then use the result to choose what comes next.

  • The account is restored

Follow Google's prompts and choose a password not previously used on the account. Review the recovered account before assuming every product state is unchanged. Secure your Google Account after a hack

  • Restoration is unavailable

An older deletion may not be reversible. A replacement Google Account is a different identity; creating one does not restore the old account or its data. Google Account recovery vs Gmail recovery
