Scam breakdown

Forgot your Google Account password?

Short answer

A forgotten password is different from a lost second factor. Google's recovery questions determine whether you can reset the password for your own account.

Reset through Google Account recovery

We never ask for your account address, password or verification code. AccountsAid cannot recover an account for you.

Reset through Google

Use the account recovery link from Google's sign-in flow.

  1. Identify the account

Enter the address or phone number you normally use to sign in.

  2. Complete the presented checks

Use a familiar browser and answer with an old password if asked.

  3. Choose a new unique password

Only set it after Google's checks succeed; update any saved copies in your own password manager.

What may change the route

The same forgotten-password query can lead to different prompts.

  • Recovery method available

You may be offered a previously configured phone or email.

  • Two-step challenge remains

A password reset does not automatically remove a second verification requirement.

  • Managed account

A work or school administrator may control reset options.

Password reset does not resolve every sign-in block

Use the symptom at the sign-in screen. These checkpoints are alternatives, not extra steps every visitor must complete.

  1. Password forgotten

Start Google's owner recovery flow and answer the questions offered for this account. Recover a Google Account you own

  2. Password accepted, second step unavailable

A reset does not automatically remove an existing verification challenge. Use a registered alternative or owner recovery. Lost access to Google 2-Step Verification?

  3. Work or school account

The organization may control password reset. Check its trusted help route before treating it as a personal Google Account. Recover a Google Workspace work or school account
