Step-by-step guide
Why your Google Account recovery request is delayed
Short answer
A security hold is Google's pause while it checks a recovery attempt. It can last hours or days; no outside guide can shorten it.
Open the route mapWe never ask for your account address, password or verification code. AccountsAid cannot recover an account for you.
Interpret the waiting message
A hold is different from a rejection.
-
Read the exact notice
Google may tell you when to expect another message or action.
-
Keep access to the contact method
Watch the address or phone you used for recovery messages.
-
Use a known session if one exists
Google says a device already signed in may offer a better recovery route.
While the hold is active
| Criterion | Useful | Not useful |
|---|---|---|
| Protect connected accounts and keep the recovery contact available. | Paying someone to 'expedite' Google verification or sharing a code with a supposed agent. |
Read the hold as a state, not a countdown
Do not treat a hold as either an approved recovery or a final refusal. Read the exact status in your own Google flow.
-
Request
You submitted an owner recovery attempt. Keep the address or contact Google uses for notices reachable.
-
Hold
Google may pause unusual requests for hours or days. The notice is a state of your request, not proof that a seller can accelerate it.
-
New method
If you regain a familiar signed-in device or another offered way to verify ownership, Google says you may try recovery again from that context.
