Scam breakdown
Lost access to Google 2-Step Verification?
Short answer
Try another previously configured factor or a trusted session. If none is available, Google's account recovery flow is the route for the owner.
Open the route mapWe never ask for your account address, password or verification code. AccountsAid cannot recover an account for you.
Check the methods you already have
Availability depends on your account setup.
-
Other signed-in device
Look for a prompt on another phone or trusted computer.
-
Saved backup code
Use one of the codes you stored before losing access.
-
Security key or passkey
Use a registered factor that is still under your control.
Do not confuse recovery with bypass
| Criterion | Legitimate path | False shortcut |
|---|---|---|
| Google verifies the owner using factors and context associated with the account. | A service promising to remove 2-Step Verification without ownership proof cannot change Google's checks. |
Recovery may take longer
Note: Google says additional verification can make account recovery take several business days in some 2-Step Verification cases; the actual prompts and timing vary.
Inventory the second steps you already have
Check only methods already associated with your account or offered on the sign-in screen. This inventory does not generate codes or change verification settings.
-
Another signed-in device
Use an offered Google prompt or existing session if that device remains under your control. Lost the phone used to sign in to Google?
-
A backup code or security key
A code must have been saved earlier; a key must already be registered to this account. Lost your Google backup codes?
-
No usable second step
Follow owner recovery. A known password does not by itself remove a required second factor. Recover a Google Account you own
