Step-by-step guide

No access to your Google recovery email?

Short answer

The recovery email is one possible proof, not a mailbox we can access for you. Use another offered method or the account recovery questions.

Open the route map

We never ask for your account address, password or verification code. AccountsAid cannot recover an account for you.

Can you restore that mailbox separately?

Criterion Yes No
Recover the recovery mailbox with its own provider, then return to Google's sign-in flow. Use Google's other presented choices. A newly created address is not automatically the old recovery address.

What to prepare for another attempt

Google may ask different questions across accounts.

  • An old password

Use one you actually remember; exact spelling matters.

  • Usual device and location

Try a browser and place where you normally signed in.

  • Other registered proof

A recovery phone, trusted device or second factor may still be offered.

A reachable address has a specific role

Note: If Google asks for an address you can check, follow the current prompt. Google’s tips describe connected recovery, alternate and contact addresses. Creating a fresh mailbox does not automatically replace the unavailable recovery email or establish ownership.

Recovery loop: the code goes to the Gmail account you cannot open

Note: Google’s recovery tips note that the account inbox may still be accessible through an existing mail client or forwarding setup. If it is not, select Try another way when offered. A looping prompt does not establish a hidden override, and a newly created mailbox does not replace the old recovery method.

Separate the inaccessible mailboxes

“No access to email” can mean three different things. Name the mailbox before choosing a recovery step.

  1. A separate recovery mailbox

If it is your mailbox, try to restore it with its provider. Its own recovery is independent of Google Account recovery. Recover a Google Account you own

  2. The locked Google inbox

A code sent to the account you cannot open is a loop. Check an existing mail client or forwarding only if already configured; otherwise use another option if offered. Google verification code not received: what can you check?

  3. A new contact address

If Google asks for an address you can check, enter one you control. It is a place for contact, not automatic proof that the old recovery method was replaced. Google couldn't verify it's you: what can you try?
