Scam breakdown
Lost the phone used to sign in to Google?
Short answer
Protect the lost device, then look for a second sign-in method you already configured. Replacing the phone does not itself prove account ownership.
Open the route mapWe never ask for your account address, password or verification code. AccountsAid cannot recover an account for you.
Secure the old device
If you still have access elsewhere, deal with the missing session promptly.
-
Review devices
Use your Google Account's device list to find the lost phone.
-
Sign out the missing session
Google lets you sign out of a device you no longer own.
-
Review sign-in methods
Remove an old passkey or factor after you regain safe access.
Alternate proof may already exist
Use only methods Google presents for this account.
-
Another signed-in phone
A Google prompt on another device may be offered.
-
Backup code or security key
A previously saved code or registered key may work.
-
Trusted computer
A computer where you chose not to be asked again can be useful.
No backup method?
Note: Use Google Account recovery and expect additional ownership checks. No third party can bypass them.
Protect account access as well as the handset
Note: Google’s lost-phone guidance recommends signing out the missing phone and changing the account password when you have safe access. Restoring the old number through your carrier is a different task from removing a lost-device session or passkey.
What did you lose: the device, the number, or both?
These losses overlap but lead to different tasks. Start with the access you can confirm rather than buying a replacement device as a recovery plan.

The handset is missing
You still have a session elsewhere. Review account devices from a device you trust, then sign the missing device out. Keep the working session until you have checked your other methods. Review devices signed in to your Google Account
-
The number is unavailable
A different device may still be yours. Restoring a phone number through a carrier is separate from Google sign-in. Check other methods actually offered for your account. No access to your Google recovery phone number?
-
Neither route is usable
You cannot reach a signed-in session or factor. Use owner recovery from a familiar environment. A new phone or SIM alone does not establish account ownership. Recover a Google Account you own
