Scam breakdown
Forgot the email address for your Google Account?
Short answer
Find the account identifier before trying password recovery. Google's username lookup needs a recovery phone or email and the full name on the account.
Find your username with GoogleWe never ask for your account address, password or verification code. AccountsAid cannot recover an account for you.
What Google's lookup needs
This route is for finding your own username, not searching for another person's account.
-
Recovery contact
A phone number or recovery email associated with the account.
-
Account name
The full name you used on the Google Account.
Find the address
Follow Google's 'Forgot email?' path.
-
Open the sign-in helper
Select the option for a forgotten email address.
-
Verify with your recovery contact
Use the method Google offers and enter the account name.
-
Continue to sign-in recovery
Once you recognize the right username, return to the relevant access route.
No matching account?
Note: Check that the recovery contact and name belong to the same account. AccountsAid cannot search Google's account directory.
Find the identifier before resetting a password
Google's username lookup asks for a recovery phone or email associated with the account and the full name on it. This is a route to identify an account, not a password reset.
-
Input — known recovery contact
Use a phone or recovery email already associated with the account you own. A newly created mailbox is not a substitute for a previously linked contact.
-
Confirm — account name
Enter the full name on that account and follow Google's verification prompts.
-
Result — matching usernames
If Google finds a match, identify the correct account before starting password recovery. No match does not reveal a hidden lookup option.
